Finpesca® S.p.A. was established in 1995 with the specific aim of operating in the fishing market based on the principles of quality and responsibility. Today, it is one of the most active and dynamic companies in the industry in Italy.
Thanks to its geographical location on the River Po Delta, a land abounding in water and protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999, the Porto Viro area has always had a strong vocation for the fishing industry. In this favourable environmental context, the local population has successfully protected and invested in the territory and its special features, transforming an economy once based entirely on subsistence farming into a veritable fishing district of international importance.
Finpesca® is directly present at major national and international supply centres to select the best and the freshest products on the spot, immediately including them in the certified production chain. Domestically caught fish is generally purchased very fresh every day from cooperatives of selected fishermen or at the main local fish markets (including Chioggia (VE), Pila (RO), Porto Garibaldi (FE), Marano Lagunare (UD) among others). The fish, which always arrives at our warehouse on the same day it is caught, is immediately prepared by our workers, who have a genuine passion for seafood products.
All fish handling is always carried out under stringent controls in order to guarantee a seamless cold chain, essential to ensuring high-quality wholesome products. Thanks to Finpesca's partnership with the logistics companies PFR Trasporti Srl® and Bierreti Srl, widespread distribution is ensured throughout Italy and guaranteed daily by a fleet of about 100 vehicles.
In 2018, major works were carried out to extend and modernise the Finpesca® plant in Porto Viro. The work involved renovating the thermal insulation, walls and ceilings, sealed insulated doors at the entrances, the brand-new LED lighting system in the warehouse and a new state-of-the-art high-performance refrigeration system for the refrigeration units. These works, amounting to more than one million euros, allow Finpesca® to be the only player in the industry with a refrigerated warehouse at a constant temperature of 3°C, thus guaranteeing perfect preservation for total safety and product quality.
